On Christmas Eve 24th December 2018 all the Loreto and the CJ sisters with all the guests, both communities have at the moment, celebrated the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ in the chapel of the Generalate in Via Nomentana 250. Father Mike and Robertus, two Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, who usually celebrate Holy Mass for us, came to  lead the Christmas Vigil  Eucharistic celebration. As usual we met after Mass for a little party in the community room.  (text and photos/eka)

Eucharist Celebration in memory of Fr. Victor Luke Odhiambo SJ

On Sunday 16 December, was the memorial Eucharist celebration in the Jesuit church Il Gesu in Rome to recall to mind Father Victor-Luke SJ who suffered a violent death on 15 November 2018 in South Sudan. He was a missionary in Rumbek serving as the community minister and teacher of English at the Jesuit Ecological Centre. Father Fratern SJ, who was the main celebrant of the Eucharist and a good friend of Victor Luke said:  “Victor spoke like Abel in the Old Testament. He did his teaching quietly, in a remote corner of the world, without excessive publicity. But the event of the 15th of November 2018 changed everything. Now in death he is speaking louder and louder, thanks to the internet and to men of good will.”
Many came to celebrate this Mass in memory of him who gave his life as Jesus did and proved to be a great witness to the violence-ridden world, of the love and sacrifice of the Lord. Bidding prayers were  made, asking the Lord to give Fr. Victor Luke SJ  now a share in the heavenly Eucharist and to touch the hearts of the leaders of those African countries torn by war, to do everything in their power so that people may be able live in peace.
