Where We Are
Mongolia, Asia
Mongolia is a country of nomadic tribes, rural poverty and intense cold with half of the population now living in Ulan Baatar, the capital of Mongolia. There has been a small CJ presence in Ulan Baatar since 2004 when the bishop invited the Korean Province to make an initial foundation.
Schools operate a shift system but without enough books to go round. The bishop had the idea of providing a library and study centre which our Korean sisters now run. The Korean sisters run a girl’s dormitory which provides boarding and lodging facilities to female university students from rural areas now studying in Ulan Baatar. They also have opened the Mary Ward Youth Centre and provide the youth with various programs to strengthen value education and leadership.
